The Soul of Room Service

A nomad at heart, Pascale Bertea has a passion for textile design and ethnic craftsmanship. Steeped from childhood in the bohemian Ibiza of the 80s, where she spent her vacations with her mother, Pascale began making Indian slippers by hand, embroidering them with beads and pompoms. Her calling was born.

A graduate of Esmod Paris, she worked as a designer for major French labels, then founded the Room Service concept in 2008, built on the spirit of travel and made-to-order design. Her workshop-boutique opened in the Montorgueil district of Paris and became a well-kept address brimming with creativity, where any one-of-a-kind piece can be made.

She reworks vintage pieces found on her travels, recuts their volumes and transforms them with scissors and embroidery, pairing them with ethnic textiles. Alongside this, she creates capsule collections of one-of-a-kind pieces and limited series. Her love of style and her bohemian spirit run through the creations she falls for. Her treasure-filled jewel box has become the address of choice for fashion lovers and for the stylists of couture houses.

A perpetual traveler in search of curiosities the world over, Pascale draws on the blending of cultures and on traditional crafts, which inspire her creations as her feelings take her.

The richness of her travels and her love of antique jewelry gave her the desire to create her own collection. Success was immediate: her creations appeared in the press and are carried in high-end boutiques in France and abroad.

Pascale works today with Indian artisans on the customization of the stones; each piece is then assembled by hand in the heart of the Parisian boutique-workshop. The 24-carat gold plating is done in Paris.
